Walmart to pay packaged meat, bagged fruit settlement [Video]

If, in the last five years, you’ve found yourself picking up a bag of fruit or some packaged meat from Walmart, you may be entitled to a settlement payment.

Walmart has agreed in principle to pay back a fraction of what those who purchased either of the products spent after a lawsuit claimed that it inflated its price of weighted goods at checkout.

While the retailer has admitted to doing so, denying any wrongdoing, it said it agreed to the settlement to avoid the case going to trial.

Anyone who can produce a receipt of a purchase or can attest to having purchased packaged poultry, pork, or seafood is eligible for a payment, along with those who purchased any bagged organic oranges, grapefruit, tangerines, or navel oranges.

The purchases had to have occurred between Oct. 19, 2018, and Jan. 19, 2024, the settlement website shared.
