People show up in droves at one Lincoln restaurant for limited Breakfast Runzas [Video]

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – What looked like just another April Fool’s joke on social media became a reality Wednesday, when Runza Restaurants offered their highly requested and limited edition Breakfast Runza.

The 56th and Holdrege location in Lincoln was the only restaurant giving away the bread pockets filled with scrambled eggs, ham, green peppers, onion, American cheese, cream cheese, and Runza seasonings.

“It wasn’t until we released the map of how people needed to drive to get here that they realized that it was true and that Lincoln Transportation and Utilities were assisting us with this whole thing,” Becky Perrett, Director of Marketing for Runza Restaurants said.

One fan got in line at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday morning to secure one of only 300 Breakfast Runzas and they were gone by 9 a.m.

Runza gave away the breakfast sandwiches for free but accepted cash donations that will go toward the total …
