WILLIAMSBURG, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – A concerning discovery from this otherwise routine traffic stop has local parents double checking their snack cabinets.
A Facebook post made by the Williamsburg Police Department exposed how some criminals are packaging potentially harmful substances, and marketing them to kids.
“It’s less likely that a parent may see that package and suspect it to be marijuana, they may think oh, it’s candy because it says pop rocks on it,” Williamsburg Police Sergeant Peter Fisher explained.
On Saturday night, the Williamsburg Police Department seized a 9mm handgun and 75-80 cannabis flower packages during a traffic stop.
The majority of these packages, near indistinguishable from items you might find in a child’s lunchbox.
“We do see a lot of the marijuana packaging to be marketable to people who like fruit snacks, or candy, which very likely can involve children.”
