Stopping holiday porch pirates [Video]

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – The holidays are right around the corner — maybe you’ve already started your online shopping. Now we need to keep packages safe from so-called porch pirates.

Security experts say it’s important to start getting the crime prevention mindset. It might be early for some, but there are plenty of people already doing their holiday shopping.

Oshkosh police posted some tips to keep in mind.

• Track orders online and try to have someone home when the package is set to arrive
• Request that packages be placed near a side or back door, to help keep them out of sight
• Have the packages delivered to a neighbor who’s home during the day
• Have the packages delivered to you at work
• Install a porch or doorbell camera
• Get a lockable delivery box or a garage door opener that allows you to open and close the garage door from anywhere
