Owen Thiele discusses nudes and sex tapes in Firefox campaign [Video]

Firefox asked Gen Z consumers to share their top concerns online as part of its positioning as a tech company that prioritizes ‘privacy over profits.’

When creator Owen Thiele interviewed Generation Z consumers about their thoughts on privacy online as part of Firefox’s new marketing campaign, the conversation sometimes entered the sexual realm. 

The browser, developed by Mozilla, did not instruct Thiele to focus on privacy concerns concerning nude photos and sex tapes, according to Rebecca Michelle Smith, Mozilla’s director of communications

But nevertheless, among the interviewees featured in the Frank Conversations campaign, that appeared to be a top concern.

“It wasn’t something that we went out to focus on, but we wanted to focus on what Gen Z cares about,” Smith said. “We know that they absolutely care about privacy. They just maybe have different concerns than the generation before.”
