King Charles may have subtly made a dig at Meghan Markle’s marketing tactics for her new brand American Riviera Orchard, after the Duchess of Sussex soft launched her strawberry jam earlier this year.

Meghan sent out 50 personalised jars of the jam to her close friends and social media influencers, with several pictures later posted online showing the jam sitting in a basket surrounded by lemons.

This fruity theme can also be found in a picture of the Palace of Holyroodhouse’s Dry Gin, on sale at the Royal Collection Shop for £45.

A photo advertising the spirit shows it also placed beside two lemons, a classic accompaniment to a glass of gin and tonic, however some royal fans online believe it could be poking fun at Meghan’s gift.

One royal admirer noted the similarities and wrote on social media: “We all know lemons go with gin and yet… I sense some rather delicious trolling.”
