WRC anchor Leon Harris will “step away” from the Washington D.C. NBC-owned station’s anchor desk after leaving the Thanksgiving newscast early.
There was speculation on social media about why Harris left the 6 p.m. show. The station said he “appeared unwell” before disappearing.
A quick check of tveyes showed the station went to an extended commercial break at around 6:07 p.m., then wrapped up the newscast with a long forecast from meteorologist Ryan Miller along with what looked like a pre-taped business segment.
“We’ve heard a lot from some of you through phone and email during this newscast,” Miller told viewers on-air. “We want to assure you that our colleague Leon Harris is fine. the news for team appreciate your concern and we’ll see you back here at 7:30.”
The station posted an update about Harris to its website:
