Endzone Pizza and Subs at the Forest Lakes Shopping Center north of Charlottesville closed its doors this month, leaving residents in the nearby northern Albemarle County communities of Forest Lakes and Hollymead “heartbroken.”
“All the residents here are,” Tamera Hammond told The Daily Progress. “Everybody is pretty surprised.”
Marketing itself as an “one-stop-shop for pizza, appetizers, salads, sandwiches and burgers,” Endzone operated for 24 years at 1764 Timberwood Blvd., according to a sign the restaurant’s owners placed outside the business sometime around Aug. 20 announcing the news.
Based on comments left by customers on Yelp, the online review site and travel advisory service, its garlic knots were fan favorites. Endzone was also ranked No. 15 on a list of Charlottesville-area pizzerias compiled by Stacker, an online entertainment, travel, sports, finance and lifestyle data analysis company, in April.
