Food Lion involved in cyber attack: What to know [Video]

SALISBURY, N.C. (WBTV) – U.S. supermarket chain Food Lion was recently hit with a cybersecurity attack, the company confirmed last week.

Ahold Delhaize announced Friday, Nov. 8 that a “cybersecurity issue” had been recently detected among its USA division and brands. Those brands include Food Lion, Giant, The Giant Company, and more.

Some of the companies’ systems had since been taken offline to “help protect them” after the cyber attack was identified, officials said in a press release. The attack was under investigation by security teams with Ahold Delhaize USA, and officials said that law enforcement had been notified.

Some operations were disrupted by the attack.

“This issue and subsequent mitigating actions have affected certain Ahold Delhaize USA brands and services including a number of pharmacies and certain e-commerce operations,” the business said. “We will continue to take actions to further protect our systems.
