Squarespace Summary Block Tutorial | How to Use a Summary Block in Squarespace 7.1 [Video]

In this video, you’ll learn how to use the summary block in Squarespace 7.1Download the FREE and fillable website design checklist👇https://www.clintmally.com/squarespace-school-checklist-downloadCheck out the full list of courses👇https://www.clintmally.com/squarespace-school-free-web-design-coursesHow to use a Summary BlockSummary blocks are a great way to pull in content from your blog or store and display it on different pages. To use the summary block, click the plus icon insert point and select the “summary block”. Before you connect your blog Squarespace automatically puts in some filler content that you can play around with. In order to display blog posts or store items, you need to click “select a page”, These need to be built out ahead of time to display here, which, I’ll show you how to do soon.Metadata for gallery blocks include things like tags, categories, dates, and author. You can select to have two or none of these options display with your blog post under primary and secondary metadata. Last you can choose to filter items by tag, category, and featured. I’m going to go over these in greater depth later on, but this can be helpful if you want to only pull content or on a certain topic, or display just your sock options from your store. Next, click the “design” tab to go over some other options on how you display your content. “Wall” displays your content without adjusting the size of your images. This is great if you don’t want to worry about making sure each of the images in your store or blog are the same size, but you want to show them off in an artsy way. You’ll notice for this and many other options you have some styling options you can use such as:The number of items you want to display. The Alignment of your text. And whether or not you want to display the title, image, excerpt, and read more options for each post. Where you want your meta display if you selected to show it. You’ll also know a “size and spacing” option where you can vary the column and gutter width to fit your preference. Note, you won’t have these options for all of the gallery choices, only some of them. “Carousel” displays your content in a row, with an arrow that you can use to see more options. Here, “image ratio” becomes important because it will automatically crop your image to a landscape version unless you choose a different option like square.”List” shows your content from top to bottom in chronological order. “Grid” shows your content similar to “wall”, but this time creating equal space between rows and having a uniform image shape.#Squarespacewebdesign #Squarespacetutorial #Squarespace

How to Add Video To Your Squarespace Site| Video Block Tutorial Squarespace 7.1

In this video, you’ll learn how to add video to your Squarespace site for Squarespace 7.1Download the FREE and fillable website design checklist👇https://www.clintmally.com/squarespace-school-checklist-downloadCheck out the full list of courses👇https://www.clintmally.com/squarespace-school-free-web-design-coursesHow to Use Video BlocksTo insert a video, click an insert point, or the plus icon, on a section. Then click the video block. You will not actually upload your video to Squarespace. Instead, you will upload it to a third-party platform like YouTube or Vimeo and then drop the link where it says “Video URL.” For example, go to a YouTube video and click the share button underneath the video. Copy the URL and paste it in the video URL box and your video will appear. Below that it gives you the option to upload a custom thumbnail. It’s a good idea to have video thumbnails because it can speed up your page load time. It usually takes less time for an image to appear than an embedded video. Just make sure the image you upload is under 500KB. #Squarespacewebdesign #Squarespacetutorial #Squarespace

Using the Form Block | Squarespace 7.1Tutorial [Video]

In this video, we will go over everything you need to know about using the form block on Your Squarespace website.Download the FREE and fillable website design checklist👇https://www.clintmally.com/squarespace-school-checklist-downloadCheck out the full list of courses👇https://www.clintmally.com/squarespace-school-free-web-design-coursesHow to Use Form BlocksTo add a “Form Block,” click the plus icon at an insert point. You’ll notice you have tons of options to go through here. For form name, you want something that will let you know exactly which form is being submitted. When someone submits a form, the form name will be the subject of an automatic email sent to you. This can be helpful to know if someone submitted a question or if they want to schedule a demo. Let’s go through each of the form fields:The text field is used if you want a single line of text. For description, it appears above the text, and placeholder text is an example of what would go inside the text field. You can also make things required or not required. If someone tries to submit the form without completing that field, then it will prompt them to first complete the field. The text area is the same thing as the text field, but the area is bigger to allow for more text. The select field allows you to create options in a drop-down menu that someone can select. Just be sure to put one option in the text box at the bottom of the edit form block when selecting this field. Note: People will only be able to select one option in this field. The check box is similar to the select field, except they can select more than one option. Radio is similar to the check box, except you can only choose one. Survey auto-fills with a range of choices that someone can check such as “Strongly agree” or “Strongly disagree.” All you have to do is set the question for the field. The name field automatically populates a field for someone’s first and last name. The password field allows them to save a password. The address field gives all the fields necessary to record their address. The Twitter field allows someone to add their Twitter handle. Note: The value of putting a specific field for something like a Twitter handle or a phone number is the system checks the format to see if it is valid. This way, someone can’t put letters in for a phone number, for example. In the website field, someone can add a URL.The email address field allows someone to add their email address. The date field allows for someone to input the day, month and year. The phone number field allows someone to put their phone number. In the currency field, someone can select their preferred currency. Line is useful, especially for longer forms in which you have a section that collects their name, address and phone number, and you want to then have a survey. It helps divide and organize sections well. Form StorageWhere does all this information go? The automatic default is that Squarespace will send an email to whatever email is connected to your account. This can be a lot of emails depending on the form, and you will probably want a way to collect and organize email addresses gathered. Therefore, many people use a third-party email platform like Mailchimp for free. You can easily connect your Mailchimp account to Squarespace in the field under the email address.Zapier is a software that allows other software to communicate with each other. For example, you could create a ZAP that triggers anytime someone submits a form and connect it to a Google sheet where it auto-populates and organizes the information into set fields.Google Drive allows you to again, connect things through Zapier and auto-populate information into forms and sheets. Form DesignYou can customize the button text under the “Content” tab and you change the button alignment under the “Design” tab.Under the “Content” tab, you have two options for what happens after people submit a form under “Post submit.” You can either write a custom message like, “Thanks, we have received your form and we”ll be in touch within 24 hours.” Or you can click “Redirect.” For redirect, you can select a URL of your choice that Squarespace will send people to after they complete the form. This is great for keeping people on your site and having them look at more of your stuff. If people are submitting a demo or inquiry form, it’s nice to send them to a place that has testimonials, reviews or example work to start warming up prospects for the sale. #Squarespacewebdesign #Squarespacetutorial #Squarespace

How to Customise Form Blocks on Squarespace wth SquareKicker [Video]

SquareKicker: No-Code. Just Design.SCRIPT:Form Block Tutorial Forms are one of the most important call to action points on your website. Squarespace’s form builder has so many fantastic fields and it’s really easy to setup but it has always been a struggle to customise the design of this vital block. SquareKickers tool allows you to fully customise the design of your form block. SquareKicker also has a newsletter block tool with similar features so you have consistent designs on your site. This video covers 5 main things: 1. We’ll go over all the different spacing options provided in the SquareKicker Form Tools.2. We’ll break down the different label font options3. We’ll take a look at the most exciting part of this tool, the text input, checkboxes, radio buttons and select dropdown design options4. How to design the post submit screen, the message people will get once they submit your form.5. Last we’ll show you how you can turn this form into a preset so you can quickly make all your forms look exactly the same across your entire site. Once in edit mode, click on a Squarespace form block and then click the SK button. This will launch your block tools. First we’ll head into spacing and have a look at all the options provided.1.) You will see spacing options for Fields, Labels, Description, Inputs, and Captions. If you’re not sure what these target, just hover over the options and you will see a yellow outline highlight the corresponding elements.2.) Now that we have covered the spacing lets go back to the main menu and dive into the label options. Here you have the options to change the font on all the labels, description and caption text.Inside these options you will find all the same font options you are familiar with from SquareKicker.3.) Back to the main menu again, let’s check out the inputs. The following are 4 different type of input fields on a form block. These options will change all the input type fields on this form block so each field remains consistent. First, lets look at the options for a Text Input: – You will see at the top an option to change the font style in the text input. – The style options are predefine styles for text inputs. You can choose underline, pill, shade and frame. – As you can see, these predefine options make a really quick impact. – If you want more control, select custom and you’ll be presented with more extensive options.Next, we’ll look at Checkboxes: – Checkboxes have predefined options just like the text input fields, on each option you can also customise the design of the styles. – Square, Rounded and circle are 3 of the styles you can choose from. A new exciting option is the ability to turn a standard checkbox into a toggle and then fully customise the design to align with your brand. The Radio Buttons and Select Dropdown’s both have similar options to the text input and checkbox design styles and options. Heading back to the main menu, You can also uniquely customise the Line Field. – Line Fields are great because they can act like a heading for a group of fields. Have you’ve ever wanted to customise the message your visitor sees when they submit your form? – Well now you can! As you hover over the Post Submit Option, your form will hide and the Post Submit message will display. – You will see all the same options your would normally expect to see in a standard SquareKicker text block tool. Just a quick note, SquareKicker Form Block Styling will only be applied to the form block and not the Form Lightbox Design. If you have multiple forms on you site it makes sense to save your new form as a preset so you can apply these same styles to all your forms on your site. To create a form preset, head over to your Presets tab and click “create preset from current block settings”. Now you can rapidly apply form styling to any form block on your site. Presets are a premium SquareKicker feature and available on Pro, Designer and Agency plans and the free trial. For more information on presets check out the Presets tutorial on the SquareKicker website. Now its your turn.
