Wix vs Squarespace - Which Website Builder is Best? [Video]

So I've made tutorials on both Wix and Squarespace so this breakdown is based on actual experience using both for blogging, ecommerce, domains and email marketing. If I had to pick one, I personally would go with Squarespace. I simply like the design, email marketing integration and the platform more. However, Wix has a lot of strong selling points. Better ecommerce functionality, built in drop shipping integration and more control over the design and layout of your website and each individual page.00:00 Intro00:32 Website builderThis is a big difference between the two platforms. Squarespace is a structured editor. You add sections to your website and can adjust the content in the sections. Wix is totally un-structured and allows you to move elements on the page anywhere you like. Sort of like Google Sites, except way more powerful and feature rich. So if you want full control over the design of your site go with Wix. The cons of this are that you can make a really poorly designed website with Wix.02:31 Domain namesBoth website builder platforms allow you to register a domain through them. Each offers a domain name for free for the first year. After, Squarespace charges $20 a year with WHOIS protection included. Wix charges $15 a year and charges $10 extra for WHOIS protection. I suggest just using a domain name registrar like Namecheap. Lower prices than both and free WHOIS protection. Last, it's way easier to setup Squarespace with Namecheap than Wix.03:46 BloggingBoth platforms are well designed for blogging. Wix allows you more control over the individual design of your blog posts and blog post page and comes with the ability to content lock your content under a paid subscription.05:28 EcommerceSquarespace and Wix are fine if you want to sell digital downloads like an ebook or a handful of physical products. Where they differ is that Wix is much better drop shipping due to their Modalyst integration and Squarespace is better for coaching and consulting. If ecommerce is the main thing you want to do I would instead go with Shopify or WooCommerce. But each builder is fine for adding ecommerce functionality.07:48 PricingSquarespace has the better price points. With their plans you also get access to ecommerce functionality. Wix has a set of website plans an ecommerce plans. The ecommerce plans are more expensive than Wix. The website plans don't allow for any ecommerce so even if you just want to sell an ebook with a Wix site, you'll have to upgrade your account.09:21 Final thoughtsBoth are great, it just depends on what you want to do!11:48 Subscribe▬▬▬DISCLAIMER: This video and description contain affiliate links when possible, which means that if you click on one of the product links, I may receive a small commission.
